didn't take many pictures. . Deb is a biking/hiking/skiing/yoga friend who used to live near us in Massachusetts, years ago. Flashback: Lorraine, Deb, and
Lynne
.at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in 2001 Belknap Covered Bridge While we were biking, George and Arthur
drove down from Portland. They met us for dinner on the patio at Takoda's, across the street from the motel. |
Cascade Classic bike route in the Oregon guidebook "Cycling Sojourner," a route that we would follow pretty much to the letter for the next six days. We checked in to Harbick's Country Inn and took a short ride, about 6 miles. Rick wanted to scope out the first few turns and see how his bike felt with the all the panniers on it. It was blazing hot, about 100 degrees, but the road along the McKenzie River was nice and shady. We crossed the river on the Belknap Covered Bridge. The original covered bridge was built in 1890, a replacement in 1911, and a third in 1939. The third bridge was destroyed in a flood in 1964, and the present span was built in 1966.
and was crowded with runners. |
