Ferry to Fukuoka (Hakata Port)

After a traditional Japanese breakfast in the hostel, we left Shikanoshima without exploring the rest of the island. The weather map on TV showed the typhoon stalled between Japan and China. A light rain was ending but heavy clouds remained. The causeway wasn't half as windy as the day before.

There were two ferry terminals and it took us some time and a little backtracking to figure out that to get to the part of Fukuoka we wanted, we should take the ferry from Marine World, another big amusement area that was nearly deserted. We could roll the bikes right onto the ferry for the 25-minute ride. It cost about $9 apiece including bikes. We were the only people on the boat.
