Jan. 1: We snowshowed up the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail, which starts at the base of the Mount Washington Cog Railway and follows the Ammonoosuc River up the western slope of Mount Washington.
Gem Pool 
It was above freezing,
and the water was rushing down
the falls at the Gorge.
Jan. 2: It was raining in the morning, so we headed back to Massachusetts a bit early.

Gem Pool
  Above Gem Pool, the trail gets very steep. I remember a ladder at one point on our September 2009 hike on this trail. This time it was buried in snow. The steep stuff was so tiring on snowshoes -- going up and coming down -- that we didn't go quite to Lakes of the Clouds hut.
The sun
came out
