Monday, Sept. 19 -- Truckee to South Lake Tahoe -- 43 miles

 Part of the morning was on a bike path, southbound along the Truckee River.

We reached the shore of Lake Tahoe
just south of Tahoe City,
after a water stop at Kilner Park.
A spur from the bike path took us to
Sugar Pine Point State Park.

Pine Lodge, aka the Hellman-Ehrman Mansion,
once the summer home of a wealthy family,
is now a museum at Sugar Pine Point State Park.
The
boathouse
contains
several
vintage
craft.

  After setting up our tent at Camp Richardson,
we checked out the waterfront.

The bike path ended and Route 89 climbed
to the Vikingsholm viewpoint
overlooking Emerald Bay.

We could see that we had another climb ahead.
